Apart from the charger level, what else affects the speed of charging at home?

Four primary factors dictate the speed at which your EV battery charges:

  1. The battery's charge level. Typically, a less charged battery charges faster.

  2. The battery's temperature. Charging speed is regulated by your EV's technology, which responds to both the battery's temperature and the ambient temperature. Colder temperatures generally result in slower charging.

  3. Additional loads on the battery charger circuit. The more kilowatts drawn from the charging station circuit, the slower the charging speed.

  4. Battery degradation. Over time, batteries lose capacity, leading to longer charging times as capacity diminishes.
