How long does it take a level 2 charger to charge an EV?
The majority of Level 2 chargers offer a charging range from 6.2 to 19.2 kilowatts, with an average of around 7.6 kilowatts. This equates to roughly 18 to 25 miles of charge per hour, taking about 8 hours to fully charge a battery electric vehicle (BEV). In contrast, Level 1 chargers have lower power ratings, typically supplying an average of 1.3 to 2.4 kilowatts. These chargers plug into a standard 120-volt AC outlet and provide 3 to 5 miles of EV range per hour.
